This is how you will be shopping clothes in the future December 11, 2007
As a futureanalyst I’ve looked into how the clothing consumtion will be revolutionized in the future with the help of technique. The conclusion is that we today are in a phase where we just started to scratch on the surface on what’s going to happen.
We have less and less time in our daily life and need to prioritize what we spend our sparetime on. Clothing consumtion is not a exception and often you get stuck and are following everyone else, the so called, trendexperts and you will look like everyone else.
With help of the techniqual revolution and the long-tail this behaviour is going to change. More consumers are discovering the small, nisch producers and here in after a time with an abundance of products will be sorted up and be more lucid. How this sorting will look like is hard to say but you have already start to see the nisch blogs who’ve take some of the responsibility.
Further more I think portals will grow up with more or less all the wearables that are being produced will be able to watch at one single digital-mall. An enourmus mall where established brands will share space with homemade wearables created by creative designers.
Shopping will be more effective because of the possibility to watch more products in less time then the regular shopping tour. Apart from the bigger selection you will also get access to tools and recommendations that will make it possible for the consumer to find exactly he/she’s looking for, without look like everyone else.
Let’s take an example:
You live in New York and are looking for a polo-shirt. Instead of going out and looking in tens of different stores you will get access to NY’s assortment in this digital-mall. You’ve now done with the normaly time-consuming research and in just a few minutes you’ve discovered a couple of nice shirts. You will probably try them out before you buy them so you’re reserving them and then you just have to visit the store which knows what you would like to try out when you are arriving.
Furthermore I would like to add that this kind of revolutionized-shopping experience will not replace the traditional shopping for all persons. The social aspect to spend a saturday with your friends and shop will not dissapear. I think this revolution will take place among the persons who are in the middle of their carreers and are stressed but still are interested to look good.
